Atticus is very tolerant and open minded individual and he does not mind Scout hanging out with the boys. He is not concerned also how Scout dresses, his only concern that Scout grows up to be responsible, strong, just and compassionate and not that she conforms. It is her aunt that insists on her conforming to gender roles and behave more like a "lady".
