Hello!

The symbol "<" means "smaller than" and the symbol ">" means "greater than" in mathematics. 

The < symbol is used to represent when a number is smaller than another number. For example:
1<2 and 5<10

The > is used to represent a number that is greater/bigger than another number. For example:
4>3 and 8>5
