Well I can't see the 'following' but the biggest advantage they had was their unconventional warfare which the British had no experience in fighting. The Patriots would plan ambushes instead of a lot of full on attacks. The British would line up to fire like war was waged in Europe and the Patriots would hide in the woods and shoot from the trees.
