here,

1st case

x + 2y = 2

x= 2 - 2y ............(i)

2nd case

2x + y = 13

x = 13 - y / 2 .............(ii)

from equation i and ii

we get,

(2 - 2y ) 2 = 13-y

4 - 4y = 13 - y

4 - 13 = 4y - y

- 11 = 3y

y = - 11 / 3

now,

putting the value of y in equation( i )we get,

x = 2 - 2 * -11 / 3

=6 + 22/ 3

=28 / 3
