X=3

Y=7

work:

y=5x-8 (substitute)

3(5x-8)=x+18

15x-24=x+18

subtract 1x from both sides

14x-24=18

add 24 to both sides

14x=42

divide both sides by 14

x=3

y=5(3)-8

y=15-8

y=7
