3h-5h+11=17
First simplify
-2h + 11 = 17
Second, subtract 11 to both sides
-2h + 11 - 11 = 17 - 11
Simplify
-2h = 6
Divide both sides by (-2)
-2h/-2 = 6/-2
Simplify
h = -3

Reorder the terms
11 + 3h + -5h = 17
Combine like terms
3h + -5h = -2h
11 + -2h = 17
Subtract 11 from each side
11 - 11 + -2h = 17 - 11
-2h = 6
divide 2
-2h/-2 = 6/-2
h= -3
