Why would you not expect to see tissue macrophages in a blood smear? Explain your answer.

Answer:

This is because they live within tissues and not blood. Macrophages are usually formed from monocytes. These monocytes have a very minute function in the body system.

They usually become macrophages and dendritic cells when necessary under certain conditions. When the conditions are met they go into the tissues where they are needed.
