why did Thoreau go to the woods? why did he leave the woods?

He went into the woods to live simply, w/out all the added extras, and resposibilities, as life was getting very complicated.

He got into a routine at the cabin, which is the exact thing he tried to escape from by moving to the woods and that's why he left.
