The chemical formula which shows the number of atoms for every element present in the molecule is said to be molecular formula.

Acetaldehyde is an organic compound having [tex]-CHO[/tex] functional group. It is also called as ethanal.

Now, ethanal consist of one carbon atom which is linked with  three hydrogen atoms and it is linked with one functional group i.e. aldehyde.

Thus, molecular formula of acetaldehyde is [tex]CH_{3}CHO[/tex].
