Because the Egyptians had more trade partners than the Nubians. Egypt was connected to trade with the Europeans unlike the Nubians

Egypt was a bigger area than Nubia. They had more options to gain wealth than Nubia. Nubia had to have many trading partners to stay in the game or have enough money to carry out traditions or cultural duties. This is why Nubia relied more heavily on trading than the Egyptians did.
