to find slope, we can use the formula

m = (y₂-y₁) / (x₂-x₁)

we are already given two sets of points, so now we can plug it into our equation

x₁ = -4

y₁ = 2

x₂ = 5

y₂ = 8

m = (8-2) / (5-(-4))

m = 6 / 9

m = 2/3

the slope of the line through the points given is 2/3
