X^2 + 6x - 55 = 0
Solve 

Factor: left side of equation
(X - 5)(X + 11) = 0

Set factors equal to 0
X - 5 = 0 or X + 11 = 0
X = 5 or X  =   - 11


Answers:
X = 5
X =  - 11
